The club welcomes younger members, but there is an entirely separate junior club that runs at the Chiswick Town Hall on Saturday mornings. For information on this please contact Meri Grigoryan by email at wljcc2001 at gmail.com
The Junior club was established in 2001 by Meri Grigoryan and is run on Saturday mornings at the Town Hall in the Committee Room from 11:30 to 13:00. Tuition is given by ECF Accredited Coach Meri, a woman FIDE master, England Women's National Team Member and England junior squad coach. Boys and Girls welcome.
Please be aware that this is an entirely separate club to the West London Chess Club, and that we cannot answer any questions about it; you must contact Meri Grigoryan if you have questions about the junior club.
There were 29 students of mine taking part in the Megafinal in Isleworth on 2nd of May. 19 out of 29 were boys from the Falcons Pre-prep Boys! Hence I had 18 alone in under 7 age group, so it was very hard for the little ones to qualify as they would face each other... And 17 boys in U7 group played their first ever tournament!
Cameron Cobb won all his 6 games and became Supremo! West London Junior Club member Dylan Barrett came second with 4.5 points out of 6. Jason Huang shared 4th equal by scoring 4 points out of 6 and with Cameron and Dylan qualified for the Gigafinal, which will take place in Reading on 4th July this year.
I produced two more Supremos - Alexander Jamieson in U10 and Yazhou Jiang in U8 and overall 8 qualified.
The positive vibe from the children and their parents gave me even more energy to coach and lecture the boys and bring the best results out of them. Though far too many to mention individually and collectively, I am so very proud of you all. You all had an amazing stamina! Congratulations to everyone who participated and for the tremendous team spirit on display.
I would like to take this opportunity to say a special thank you to all the parents for their dedication, commitment and continuous support.
